The price of oil, which closed at the lowest level since mid-March, recorded losses after the announcement of the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) that its members will release some of the reserves, aimed at de-escalating prices.
West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery fell $ 5.73, or 5.6%, to close at $ 96.23 a barrel.
This is the lowest contract closing next month since March 16.
Brent crude for June delivery lost $ 5.57, or 5.2%, and ended the day at $ 101.07, the lowest level since March 16.
